The collar that costs a few dollars and lasts the life of the house
A fitting sealed into concrete, or a gap sealed into concrete.
In short: Termite collars not installed at slab penetrations on Oran Park pours.
What it does
Closes the gap around a pipe where it passes through the slab, shutting a concealed route from soil to structure.
What we recorded
Collars simply not fitted, on separate penetrations, on Oran Park slabs before the pour.
Why the timing is absolute
After the pour the penetration is sealed permanently around whatever is or is not there. There is no later opportunity.
Where it fits
Under AS 3660 it is one component of a termite management system, alongside perimeter treatment and inspection zones.
What to ask
For the termite management design for your lot, and for confirmation the collars are in before the pour is booked.
