What is re-entrant reinforcement?

Extra steel placed diagonally at internal corners of the slab, where the geometry concentrates shrinkage stress. Without it, that corner is the place a crack starts, and it is a controlled crack rather than a structural failure but it is avoidable.

Why do collars matter so much at this stage?

Because after the pour the penetration is sealed around whatever is or is not there. A collar fitted afterwards is not the same thing, and retrofitting is a far more involved job.

Does looking at a finished slab achieve anything?

You can look at the surface. You cannot look at cover, at collars or at the steel inside it. Which is exactly why this stage exists.

We reschedule to match, without a fee. Dates shift constantly and it is never a reason to skip the stage.

What is the duration on site?

An hour to ninety minutes on a standard lot, with the report generally out the same evening so the builder can act.

Do you check the meter box set out?

We record it where visible. We have found the box and conduit not installed at pre-pour stage here, which is far easier to correct before the slab than after.
